Great Feedback- As Always!

Hi Team Gansneder!

Thank you for all the great feedback!

Everything you noted sounds great, and I’ll stay tuned for your notes from the showroom visits.

My only concern is the lighting - I really appreciate you sharing what resonates with you aesthetically. Recessed lighting definitely offers a clean, streamlined, and unobtrusive appeal! However, I also want to be sure we’re providing you with a design that can offer that minimal appeal while functioning beautifully for how you’ll actually live in the space.

Here's the thing: recessed lighting alone can create a flat, one-dimensional feel because it only provides downlight from the ceiling. Great lighting design uses layers – ambient, task, and accent lighting – to create warmth, depth, and functionality in different areas.

What I'd love to propose:

  • We can absolutely incorporate recessed lighting as your primary ambient layer

  • But let's strategically add a few key fixtures (Entry and living room) to define space and create warmth in those layers - allowing light to fill the space from other angles.

This approach gives you that streamlined look you love while ensuring the space feels warm and well-lit for cooking, reading, entertaining, etc.

Here’s a peek at a room before additional light levels were added and after - there are certainly ways to keep the fixtures more subtle as well, while providing this additional needed lighting:

Here is another great example of why layered lighting is so important, and also an illustration of how this lighting can be layered while remaining subtle and sophisticated. The following images are computer generations - but the lighting projection is 100% accurate. The first image shows dimmed lighting in the evening for a subtle and comfortable evening. The second image illustrates can lighting only, which removes the dimensions from the space, and the craftsman charm along with it.

Looking forward to finding the perfect solution together!

Waldron Designs was founded by Rachel Waldron (that’s me!). in 2013.

I am so happy designing that it is not unusual to catch me in a giggle as I rev up to do my work. I think of my designs the way that I think of my children- each is unique and has their own personality. It is my job to nurture them and help them grow, not define them.

I got my bachelor's degree in interior design from Washington State University - a CIDA-accredited school - in 2005, immediately moved into a leadership position and have continued designing with passion.

I received my MBA in Marketing in 2012 and launched Waldron Designs in 2013. When I am not designing, you will find me enjoying my precious time with my husband and two spectacular children.
