Preserving the Past, Embracing the Future

We're often enchanted by the stories woven into the fabric of historic homes. Our journey into the world of heritage home renovations is deeply rooted in a passion for preserving the past and embracing the future. Rachel, one half of our dynamic team, has always been captivated by the allure of dilapidated homes. The very idea of removing gorgeous, vintage items pains us—it's like erasing a chapter of history. In fact, it was this profound appreciation for the beauty within decay and the goal of "saving" homes that led Rachel to the realm of interior design

Unveiling the Challenges and Opportunities

Preserving Architectural Elements

Renovating a heritage home involves a delicate dance with time. We understand the importance of preserving those unique architectural elements that give a home its distinct character. From intricate moldings to ornate fireplaces, each detail holds a piece of history. Our approach involves meticulous planning to ensure these elements not only survive but shine anew.

Navigating Regulations

Heritage homes often come with a set of regulations to protect their historical significance. We've navigated these waters before, and we're here to guide you through the process. Let's work together to understand the local regulations, ensuring that your renovation respects the past while embracing the future.

Blending Modern Amenities with Vintage Charm

It's not just about preserving the past; it's about seamlessly integrating modern comforts. We love the challenge of blending contemporary conveniences with the charm of bygone eras. Imagine stepping into a kitchen that marries the latest appliances with the warmth of vintage craftsmanship or a bathroom that boasts cutting-edge technology while exuding timeless elegance.

A Nod to Utilizing Vintage Windows

In a previous blog post, we delved into the art of utilizing existing vintage windows. Rachel Waldron

Waldron Designs was founded by Rachel Waldron (that’s me!). in 2013.

I am so happy designing that it is not unusual to catch me in a giggle as I rev up to do my work. I think of my designs the way that I think of my children- each is unique and has their own personality. It is my job to nurture them and help them grow, not define them.

I got my bachelor's degree in interior design from Washington State University - a CIDA-accredited school - in 2005, immediately moved into a leadership position and have continued designing with passion.

I received my MBA in Marketing in 2012 and launched Waldron Designs in 2013. When I am not designing, you will find me enjoying my precious time with my husband and two spectacular children.
