Bringing the Outdoors In with Plants in Your Home

Whether you're a seasoned plant parent or just dipping your toes into the leafy world, adding a touch of greenery can elevate your home's design while promoting a sense of well-being. So, grab your watering cans, and let's talk about how to infuse some botanical beauty into your abode!

1. Biophilic Design Bliss:

First things first, let's chat about biophilic design – a concept that's all about connecting with nature. Introducing plants into your home is a fantastic way to embrace this philosophy. Not only do they bring a touch of the outdoors inside, but they also contribute to a healthier, more harmonious living environment.

2. The Power of Placement:

Plants are like little pieces of art, and where you place them matters. Consider incorporating greenery in spaces where you naturally spend time, like the living room, kitchen, or home office. Position them near windows to make the most of natural light and let those lush leaves soak up the sunshine.

3. Size Matters:

When it comes to plants, think about the scale of your space. Larger rooms can accommodate bigger plants like fiddle leaf figs or snake plants, while smaller spaces may benefit from the charm of petite succulents or trailing pothos. Strike a balance that feels just right for your home.

4. Mix and Match:

Get playful with your plant choices! Mix different types of plants to create a diverse and visually interesting display. Combine tall and spiky with low and trailing for a dynamic effect. Don't forget to consider the textures of the leaves – it's like creating a green symphony in your space.

5. Sustainable Plant Parenthood:

Just like our commitment to sustainable design, let's extend that ethos to our plant choices. Opt for locally sourced plants and eco-friendly planters. Consider repurposing containers or exploring vintage pots for a touch of character. Sustainable plant parenthood is not just about the beauty of the plants but also about nurturing the planet.

Happy planting!

Rachel Waldron

Waldron Designs was founded by Rachel Waldron (that’s me!). in 2013.

I am so happy designing that it is not unusual to catch me in a giggle as I rev up to do my work. I think of my designs the way that I think of my children- each is unique and has their own personality. It is my job to nurture them and help them grow, not define them.

I got my bachelor's degree in interior design from Washington State University - a CIDA-accredited school - in 2005, immediately moved into a leadership position and have continued designing with passion.

I received my MBA in Marketing in 2012 and launched Waldron Designs in 2013. When I am not designing, you will find me enjoying my precious time with my husband and two spectacular children.
