Ryan Ross is a recent graduate with his Bachelor of Interior Design as a Junior Designer.

He began working with Waldron designs in 2019, starting as a part-time design assistant. Upon completion of his practicum internship in the summer of 2021 he became a full-time designer in September 2022.

In college, Ryan won several awards for his design work. He was honored to win the PAVE Global competition, where he designed a sustainable and scalable pavilion concept. He also won first place in the International Interior Design Association’s (IIDA) Seattle Divisional design charrette, and the IIDA West Coast Regional design charette. He advanced to Nationals and graduated summa cum laude in 2022.

Ryan has a passion for social justice, the environment, and how design can impact both. He spent his time in college studying how good design can remove barriers and is a passionate advocate for Universal Design principles. He was lauded in his college studios and competitions for thinking outside of the box, and finding ways to creatively break “rules” and existing conventions to create engaging and unique experiences.

Starting his early career in the finance and insurance industry, he always had an eye on returning to interiors and architectural design. After several life detours, he pursued his lifelong goal of studying design and is proud to call himself a designer.

Ryan’s first influence in design came from his grandmother, who always taught him that a home should have purposeful and well-thought-out elements that coexist to create warmth and meaning. She infused him with her rebel spirit, wicked sense of humor, and intense love of family.

When he isn’t designing, Ryan enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He is always seeking novel experiences to expand his creativity and worldview. He is a lifelong learner with a growth mindset, with a passion for all design disciplines and art history. Traveling with his family is one of his favorite pastimes and he is excited to attend Burning Man in 2023.
