First Friday Artist Information

Thank you for being a featured artist for First Friday!! Waldron Designs is very excited to have reinstated our participation in this art walk and is honored to have such beautiful art grace our spaces. We are a very busy small firm, so please be sure to read through the bulleted list below to ensure that we are on the same page.

  • Hosts assume no liability for the artwork. Please insure your work!

  • We add a 20% commission to the prices provided to us. When providing your prices, list what you would like to earn for the sale of the piece. We will calculate the markup and present this in the price tags.

  • We advise that all artists walk the space and, if possible, attend a First Friday event at our office prior to participating.

  • Artists are required to hang their own art. Art should be in place no later than Wednesday before the event. Nail/hook removal is the responsibility of the artist. Please visit the studio in advance to plan locations.

  • Artists are to provide the following information for each piece they plan to display 14 days prior to the event. The host will provide the labels for the event:

    • Title

    • Artist Name

    • Media

    • Size

    • Price

  • Artists shall remove their work seven (7) days prior to the next event (Friday before the next event) so that our next artist may install their work.

  • Hosts will advertise the event, including a posting on the Chamber of Commerce Event Calendar, our monthly newsletter, and our website event calendar. Artists are encouraged to do their own advertising as well.

  • The event runs from 6 pm to 9 pm. Artists are encouraged to attend - people like to meet the artist they are purchasing from! Artists may arrive early and are welcome to assist in preparations, though it is not required.

  • In addition to hosting your art in our studio, we also sell it on our website for the month it will be displayed. We are happy to keep the art on our page as long as you like and notify you when something sells. See our art page here!

  • If you have photos of the work that will be posted, please send these photos in prior to installation. The sooner we get photos, the sooner we can advertise your event, so send them over early, and we’ll get your event up sooner than later! We get a lot of glare here, making cell phone photography challenging.

Artists are not expected to bring anything other than their art and their lovely presence! We have seen some artists do particularly well by doing the following:

  • Bring business cards or flyers/marketing materials.

  • Provide a low-cost purchase option (postcards, small replica prints, etc)

  • Print several copies of your artist bio for guests to take with them - include your contact information so they can reach out for future purchases.

We do not have tremendous amounts of purchases from these events typically. They are more of an opportunity for us all to get our names out there, meet people, and have an excuse for a fun evening. We DO see a return from the events, though sometimes that return comes in the form of a purchase a few years down the road or contact for a design at that point.
