A New Home for Waldron Designs
We’re packing up our in-town studio and getting ready for a move! And this time, we think we may have found our last studio. Short of designing and building a space from the ground up, we found what we were looking for right in front of us: a place of our own, room to make it ours, and a view across Quartermaster Harbor that will be pretty hard to beat.
Case Study: Transforming a Pan Abode Home Kitchen with Pacific Northwest Flair
Waldron Designs undertook a comprehensive renovation of a Pan Abode Home, a unique kit home known for its rustic charm and construction challenges.
The goal was to transform not only the kitchen but also the bathroom and basement levels into light, airy, and sophisticated spaces while preserving the home's original character.
Construction Administration: The Final Design Phase
What IS Construction Administration? I recently heard an architect friend compare it to the healthy food in a meal, but if we're to compare it to food, I see it more like a chef planning and carrying through a meal:
First, she determines what kind of event the meal is for (programming).
Next, she generates ideas for the meal (schematic).
Then, she begins testing the meal- putting the ingredients together and tasting them (design development).
Finally, she writes down the recipe (construction documents)
Lastly, she prepares the meal... or in this case, we'll say the restaurant prepares the meal with her oversight (construction administration).
