Kitchen Color to Life

Some projects are smaller- a color consultation, a one-time meeting to discuss ideas and next steps, a quick sketch with suggestions. We have so many of these projects each year, and while each does not result in professional photos and big, front-page images, we take just as much pride in these smaller projects as we do a complete renovation.

Today, I wanted to share a color consultation we did recently for a couple who knew they weren’t staying in their home long, but desperately needed a brighter, more cheerful home. The kitchen felt dark and dated. Knowing the plan was not for a high-end long-term change, the couple opted for something simple that can make a major impact- paint and some new hardware.

Kitchen Before- ready to be colored to life:

The couple knew what colors they liked, blues, grays, beiges and greens. They had fantastic little details in the ceiling light made from an old sign, and receptacle outlets that looked like river rocks. With such bright and cheerful personalities, of course their kitchen had to match! We worked very much as a team, filtering through to find JUST the right blue, and JUST the right beige.

They did the painting and hardware installation themselves, and I felt like a proud mama when I got these photos in my inbox, what a difference!

Colored back to life:

The couple were very happy with the end result, writing,

Thank you so much for all your assistance and guidance.  We really could not have tackled this nor do I think the result would be something we would have been so pleased with without your guidance.

Need some help with colors in your home? We love color consultations and are thrilled to be a part of this dramatically simple change!

Rachel Waldron

Waldron Designs was founded by Rachel Waldron (that’s me!). in 2013.

I am so happy designing that it is not unusual to catch me in a giggle as I rev up to do my work. I think of my designs the way that I think of my children- each is unique and has their own personality. It is my job to nurture them and help them grow, not define them.

I got my bachelor's degree in interior design from Washington State University - a CIDA-accredited school - in 2005, immediately moved into a leadership position and have continued designing with passion.

I received my MBA in Marketing in 2012 and launched Waldron Designs in 2013. When I am not designing, you will find me enjoying my precious time with my husband and two spectacular children.
