Meeting tomorrow & Barn Siding

Hello Johnine,

We hope you’re having a wonderful week! As we move forward with finalizing your Design Development and Construction Documents, we want to keep you fully in the loop regarding some important details about the siding and exterior work on your barn conversion.

As you know, our design vision is built around creating a healthy, beautiful, and long-lasting home for your or Paddy's use. One that honors the barn’s character while ensuring comfort, safety, and energy efficiency. To achieve this, our plans call for removing the existing siding, which currently has significant gaps and damage. This approach not only allows us to properly insulate and waterproof your home, but also preserves the stunning barn framing as a unique interior feature.

We understand that Alex has suggested patching the existing siding. However, after careful consideration, we want to be upfront: we are not comfortable with a patching approach, as we believe it carries significant risks and would not deliver the protection or quality your home deserves. It may also result in more labor and could compromise the overall integrity of your project. For both liability and ethical reasons, Waldron Designs cannot support or document a design that relies on the existing siding in its current condition.

We’ll be discussing this directly with Alex at our upcoming meeting on July 9th, and we’ll advocate firmly for the solution that best protects your investment and well-being. Our commitment is always to your vision, safety, and the long-term value of your home.

If you have any questions or concerns before our meeting, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to support you every step of the way and ensure this process stays as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Warmly,

Sean & Rachel

Waldron Designs was founded by Rachel Waldron (that’s me!). in 2013.

I am so happy designing that it is not unusual to catch me in a giggle as I rev up to do my work. I think of my designs the way that I think of my children- each is unique and has their own personality. It is my job to nurture them and help them grow, not define them.

I got my bachelor's degree in interior design from Washington State University - a CIDA-accredited school - in 2005, immediately moved into a leadership position and have continued designing with passion.

I received my MBA in Marketing in 2012 and launched Waldron Designs in 2013. When I am not designing, you will find me enjoying my precious time with my husband and two spectacular children.
