Rachel Waldron, Certified Living in Place Professional

Our homes should be the place we feel most safe.

The design profession focuses primarily on licensing designers and other building professionals for commercial spaces, often stating that designers don’t need to be licensed for residential work, because there is not as strong a need for safety application.

Learning disorders, Respiratory illness, lead poisoning, mental illness, chronic disease, cancer and injury due to falls can all be prevented when designing a safe space.

Why would we expose our children to foam mattresses, sofas, and pillows that offgas fumes that may cause asthma, learning disorders, and potentially cancer? Usually, we do this because we don’t know any better… because residential “isn’t that important”.

Becoming a Certified Living in Place Professional means that I can analyze a home for safety standards, and design with these considerations in mind.

But, we take this need for security in the home beyond Living in Place. We also study sustainable design, always learning how to improve your indoor air quality and reduce exposure to harmful chemicals and radiation.

Your home is your safe space, and we want to keep it this way.

Rachel Waldron

Waldron Designs was founded by Rachel Waldron (that’s me!). in 2013.

I am so happy designing that it is not unusual to catch me in a giggle as I rev up to do my work. I think of my designs the way that I think of my children- each is unique and has their own personality. It is my job to nurture them and help them grow, not define them.

I got my bachelor's degree in interior design from Washington State University - a CIDA-accredited school - in 2005, immediately moved into a leadership position and have continued designing with passion.

I received my MBA in Marketing in 2012 and launched Waldron Designs in 2013. When I am not designing, you will find me enjoying my precious time with my husband and two spectacular children.
