This month's First Friday is very special to me personally. I love all the artists I've had display in my space, but this particular artist is a major part of who I am today and my career. Bob Krikac was the professor who pushed me, challenged me, and encouraged me in college. I still remember how frustrated and jealous I got every time Bob whipped out one of his spectacular sketches or told us the simple basics of sketching and somehow everything I drew looked like a contorted child's doodle. He tried so hard to teach me how to scale spaces by comparing it to my finger, or my pencil eraser. I ended up with some decent work, but Bob will forever be the teacher and me the student.
Bob documents his travels not through photography, but by sitting down and taking in his surroundings, sketching what he sees and adding color with watercolor if he has the time before he moves on to the next inspiring scene.
When I send Bob a holiday card or a note, I get a response on one of his amazing sketches, and I save every one of them!
Bob is coming all the way from Colfax, WA to display his artwork in my studio space. I am so honored and thrilled to have him. This is your chance to get an authentic Bob Krikac piece of work, art that suits any home style. Take a look at his portfolio of work here: http://bobkrikac.blogspot.com/
Really, just doing a Google Search "Bob Krikac art" will show you what an honor it is to have him visiting our island and displaying his work!
